So what's with the Goofy Pink Bike?
I don't know about you, but I tend to name my vehicles, including my bikes. The pink one is "Spinky"--email me if you want the very long story behind the name--and she's a Trek "Pure," purchased from and lovingly maintaned by the fine people at Golden Bear Bikes. I have a shoulder problem that prevents me from putting any weight on my arms when riding, so this "semi-recumbent" bike is perfect for me. Since my husband and I work primarily in Broomfield, our kids go to school here, we shop here, etc., I've been told that I'm "highly visible" in town as I ride around. So, using the bike as a campaign icon seemed natural . . . it's fiscally responsible (I save A LOT of money on gas, plus I don't have to join a health club for exercise), it's environmentally responsible (essentially a zero carbon footprint), I ride it around to my volunteer commitments, plus, it's FUN!
